Wrist Pain / Strain
Definition
A strain results when the ligaments within the wrist joint are stretched and perhaps torn.
Mechanism of Injury
The wrist is frequently bent backward or a fall onto the palms of the hand.
Symptoms
- Swelling in the wrist
- Pain at the time of injury
- Persistent pain when wrist is moved
- Bruising/skin discoloration
- Tenderness at site of injury
- A feeling of popping or tearing inside of wrist
- A warm feeling to the skin
